As a lot of you know, I haven’t been on top of bloggin lately. I’ve been swamped, to say the least. It’s all my fault…as I am finally through my first year as a photographer, I’ve learned so much about how much I can take on. I’ve also learned where my passion truly lies within photography. If you’ve followed my blog at all, you know I’m in love with newborn photography (well, just in love with newborns in general). When I was approached about doing birth photography, I had a mixture of emotions. I had seen tons of videos of people giving birth, but I honestly had never witnessed live birth. It’s something that I’ve always dreamed of being a part of. Seeing a human being enter the world for the first time, well, it’s just amazing to think about. Even though I was super excited about photographing the birth, I must admit, I was a little scared too. Knowing it was a home birth, the worry-wart in me worried something would go wrong. But it didn’t, the day was unbelievable, and I was honored to be a part of it.
Kyle & Rachelle are amazing people. This birth meant a lot to them, and they definitely put a lot of thought into the experience of their birth. When I arrived at her parent’s property in Ridgefield, WA, I was amazed at the setup they had. In the middle of a gathering of trees, sat a warm birthing pool. Tiki torches, music & lanterns surrounded the pool. There I was, standing in the middle of an oasis, and the best part of all – a baby was about to be born.
I guess I don’t need to go into much details about how the rest of the day unfolded, you can see it in the photographs. I feel truly blessed to be a part of such a beautiful moment for this family.
Thank you Rachelle & Kyle, from the bottom of my heart! Your baby girl is beautiful in every way. Hope you will cherish these memories forever. <3

Kyle & Rachelle didn’t know if they were having a boy or girl. She baked 2 cakes before labor – one for a boy, one for a girl.
